VILLA PARK • Parks
and Recreation invites residents to a Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting for the new
amenities at the Iowa Community Center Park, 338 N. Iowa, Saturday, June 22nd
starting at 10:30 am. The park now
offers recreation amenities for all ages, including a state of the art skate bowl,
a new, accessible playground, Bocce and Baggo courts, a children’s educational garden, native
plant area, new concrete walks, a drinking fountain, benches and a gazebo type
shelter. A DJ will be on hand
and the festivities kick off with a skate boarding demonstration by friends of
Villa Park’s Motiv8 Skate
Shop. At 11 am Villa Park resident and
Bocce enthusiast Edd Magierski will give a Bocce ball
demonstration. There will also be a Baggos
mini-tournament on the new courts. The
official ribbon cutting will
be held at 11:30 am followed by brief remarks from those who worked closely
with the grounds
project. At 12 noon Village employees
will be serving free hotdogs and popcorn (while supplies last) and the
park will officially open for all to enjoy at 12:30 pm.

Registration for Summer Camp has started! Stop by the Iowa Community Center and
register your child for a summer they won’t forget! Summer Camp begins, June 10.

parking lot located at 338 N. Iowa Avenue will have sections closed for
striping on Monday, June 17, Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19: 5-8
am. If you have business at the Iowa Community Center on any of those
aforementioned days and times, please allow yourself extra time in the event
the lot is full upon your arrival. Please note that there is street
parking available along the east side of Iowa Avenue. We apologize

RIDE: join in the fun at the 5th annual Village of Villa Park
Community Bike Ride, Saturday, August 3, from 8 am to noon beginning at the
Ruggard Gazebo, Ardmore and Central Ave. Families, friends, avid and novice
cyclists can choose to ride a shorter Kid’s Route, the 3.1 or 9.3 miles that
will take them along the scenic Illinois Prairie Path, Great Western Trail and
Salt Creek Trail. All participants must wear a helmet. Pre-registration for
this FREE event is strongly suggested and may be made at the VILLA PARK • Parks

packets for Villa Park Recreation’s 2013-2014 preschool program are now
available at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa. The preschool is open to 3 year olds (child
must be 3 years old by 9/1/13) and 4 year olds (must be 4 by 9/1/13). Options include Monday, Wednesday & Friday
mornings and afternoons, and Tuesday & Thursday mornings and
afternoons. No tuition is due when submitting a preschool
registration; only an $89 non-refundable registration fee and a copy of the
child’s birth certificate. For
