2012-2013 DANCE INSTRUCTORS

Ms. Debbie W.

Born and raised in Chicago, Debbie began her dance training at the age of ten. She trained in classical ballet, jazz, modern and tap dance for over ten years under the direction of such renowned teachers as Anna Paskevska, Randy Duncan and Eduardo Vilaro at the Chicago Academy for the Arts High School and Columbia College Chicago, in addition to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Martha Graham Dance Company. After graduating from college she went on to dance with the Chicago based company Estradanza. Debbie has over a decade of teaching experience. The 2012-2013 season marks her third season with the Discover Dance program.

Debbie began her dance training at the age three at the Elmhurst Park District.  She trained in tap, jazz and ballet and was a member of the Dance Troupe for six years.  Debbie has over a decade of teaching experience.  The 2012-2013 season marks her second season with the Discover Dance Program.

SUMMER DANCE

All dancers must be the proper age by the first day of class.  All classes are 55 minutes long except for Creative Dance classes which are 45 minutes long.  Proper dance attire is mandatory.  Registration for Performance Teams is open to current team dancers.  All classes are held at the Iowa Community Center.  For the class times/dates, please see the Summer 2013 program brochure link at the bottom of the page.

Dance Class Attire

Dancers must wear proper dance clothing (leotards and tights, no pedestrian clothing).  Additional dance cover ups are permitted (jazz pants/shorts)

Adult Tap: Tap shoes

Adult Jazz: Jazz shoes 

Ballet & Creative Dance: Ballet Shoes 

Ballet/Tap: Ballet & Tap shoes

Ballet/Jazz: Ballet & Jazz shoes

Tap/Jazz: Tap & Ballet shoes

*please note ballet shoes are not a substitute for jazz shoes

NEW CLASSES ADDED TO THE SUMMER BROCHURE:

Lyrical: 7 and older, Thursdays, 4:30-5:25 pm

Adv. Ballet: 8-12, Thursdays, 5:30-6:25 pm

Adult Jazz: 18 & older, Thursdays, 6:30-7:25 pm

The above 3 classes have been added to the summer dance schedule and are taught by Ms. Debbie W.  The session runs from May 21-June 20, 5 classes, $39.
